The story of
Tracey Grace
Tracey Grace has written and illustrated stories since grade school.
She won “The Daughters of the American Revolution Award” for writing an article against the horrors of Southern slavery when she was eleven years old. Tracey has a degree in Mechanical Engineering and Fine Arts. In the early ’90s, she showed her antiracism three-dimensional paintings throughout Florida, but she has concentrated on writing since that time. All her novels have themes of equality for all living beings. A survivor of childhood abuse, she also incorporates these issues in her writing and says that one of her missions in life is to bring the darkness of abuse into the light so that people who read her work will know that they are not alone. After years of submiting her work to LGBTQ publishers, Tracey sent a book to Wildcat Press. She had no idea that the press was owned by the author of the first gay book she ever read as a teenager. Patricia Nell Warren became Tracey's mentor, and encouraged her to open her own publishing company. In 2001 Amazing Dreams Publishing was born and Tracey and her partner wrote and published several books for women coming out.
From the books came an online support group, and Tracey worked with women coming out since 2003. She has written books and articles for LGBTQ+ magazines and websites worldwide and has started and managed support groups for women coming out. She now owns and manages womencomingout.com, a private social networking website that was set up primarily to support women who are in the process of coming to terms with their sexual orientations. Tracey was the director of the Writers’ Guild of Western North Carolina for two terms. She works as a graphic and website designer and in the fine arts field. She has a passion for animals and has worked in rescue for many years. She loves horses, especially Spanish breeds, and credits her Galiceno horse, Shane, for saving her during her childhood abuse. She has been with her life partner, Kathy, since 1993. They live in a happy home full of animals, including cats, dogs, horses, and pigeons, in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina. Storyline
- 1993 - 1998
Started writing novels for gay and bi women. Sent novel to Wild Cat Press and met the owner, Patricia Nell Warren. Patricia’s book, “The Beauty Queen” was the first LGBTQ+ book that I read as a teenager. Patricia became my mentor and encouraged me to open my own publishing company.
- 2001
Started Amazing Dreams Publishing. Launched several nonfiction support books for women coming out.
- 2002 - 2015
Started Support for Women Coming out, SFWCO, an online support group for women worldwide. With the help of my partner and our members, we supported over 5,000 women worldwide during their coming out process.
- 2003 - 2008
Started writing for LGBTQ+ magazines and website articles in the US and Australia. Our column, The Naked Truth, was featured in LesNation Magazine, and our column, Dear Lezzies, was featured in the LOTL Magazine in Australia. Our Naked Truth Articles were also featured worldwide on the following websites: Shewired.com, Lesnation.com, Gaywired.com, 247gay.com, Match.com, Latinoglo.com, Queerfuture.com, Countrygayweb.com, Gaymonkey.com and Grayandgay.com
- 2010
Nominated for the Oprah’s Heroes show by members of our SFWCO online group. Went with our SFWCO group moderator to the show in Chicago, which actually was the last Oprah’s Favorite Things show. All 240 hero’s show audience members won over $40,000 in prizes including a 2012 VW Beetle, all tax free.
- 2012 - 2016
Google blacklisted the Amazing Dreams Publishing website because our keywords were for gay and bi women. Notice that I am not writing those keywords on this website. It took me a very long time to find out why our company website went from being one of the top in the world to not showing up at all in search results for our keywords. It was not only our website. We had over 1,000 inbound links from other LGBTQ+ websites, and 700 of those business websites are no longer online…
- 2019 - 2020
COVID hit, lost my full-time job as a graphics and website manager. Yahoo removed all groups including our SFWCO group on 12/15/20. I started working with a programmer to design a private support website for women coming out, which it is now online here: womencomingout.com, and I started writing support books again.
- Today
Currently working on the total relaunch of our new Amazing Dreams Publishing website with new books for the LGBTQ+ community. Featuring fiction books for women and men, and nonfiction support books for women, along with two community websites for gay, bi and questioning men and women:: womencomingout.com for women and betamusociety.com for men.
